English Speaking Union Finals

Our English-Speaking Union dream team made the trip to Canterbury on Wednesday for the regional final round of the competition. They faced fierce competition from four rival schools all vying for the coveted top spot that would take them through to the grand final of the competition.

Toby, Elliot, and Theo all gave outstanding performances in their respective roles. In the judges’ feedback, it was remarked upon that all boys had displayed notable and admirable confidence under the challenging conditions. The judges were also careful to note that all three had noticeably made huge efforts to implement the feedback they’d received from previous rounds.

While Chailey were placed as runners up in this year’s competition, with the winners being King’s School (the hosts of the event), the judges commented on how difficult the decision had been, with an initial 50/50 split between the four judges causing an extended period of deliberation. Although our team didn’t take the title this year, we are incredibly proud of all three boys. They have demonstrated commendable courage, commitment, and composure throughout the competition. We know that they will take forward valuable transferrable skills from this experience and hope that they will remember it, and their achievements, fondly.
