"I read for pleasure and that is the moment I learn the most." Margaret Atwood

Chailey Library is a welcoming and vibrant learning environment at the heart of the school. Reading for pleasure is important and valued across the school.

The Library is a popular destination with students at morning break and lunch-time and can be used for homework, research and of course, reading for pleasure.

Chess and other board games are available to be enjoyed during breaks.

Students can borrow fiction books from the well-stocked shelves and there is a librarian on hand to provide guidance to students and to support the school curriculum. Computers may be used for homework or extended research.

Students are able to see what’s available in the library via this link: Chailey School (accessit.online)

The Library participates in the Southern Schools Book Award, has visits from poets and authors, as well as many other activities to promote reading for pleasure.

It is open from 08:45 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday and 08:45 – 15:10 on Friday.
